New Cabinets & Kitchen Floor

Here are our beautiful, new (unfinished) cabinets that will be mounted in the kitchen tomorrow! I'm so excited! I can't decide whether or not we should paint them or do a wood stain on them. Since we have kept some of the old wall mounted cabinets which are painted white, I figured we could paint all of the wall mounted cabinets and do a wood stain on the cabinets below. Or maybe just paint them all?? I don't know, It's a toss up!

We decided to switch up the tile bond again, just to keep it interesting. So the kitchen has a running bond, a common bond you see in brick work. I think it's looking great!

New Kitchen Wall & Floor Scraping (Fun Fun!)

Andy put the new wall up in the kitchen yesterday to section off the utility room. Biscuit watches while I scrape the floor to try and get the old linoleum adhesive up before we lay tile. Putting the first coat of mud on the new drywall. Brand new cabinets came in today! Looking forward to designing our very first kitchen!

Future Garden Plot

Diamonds are a girl's best friend!

We finished laying the tile in the living room yesterday! It took us about 6 hours and Andy had to make a bunch of tile cuts but we're happy with it! Today we took a trip to Home Depot and picked up a darker color grout so it should be a dramatic contrast to the tile color. Can't wait to see it finished!

Kitchen Demo Done!

New Wall, Dry Wall

Brand, spanking, new dry wall! The wall behind the kitchen sink was water damaged and moldy, ewwww! So we tore it out and put some nice green sheet rock up. Tomorrow it will be taped and prepped for painting! I love seeing the progress we're making! It's coming along, isn't it?!

Lacy Grout!

Sandstone grout reminds me of the beach. Andy wants to use a darker grout with more contrast to the tile. Maybe a grayish grout? We need a little base board and to sand down and paint the heat register and this bedroom will be as good as new! Windows were cleaned up today and the kitchen demolished! We're making great progress!

We CLOSED! Today is the first day of the rest of our lives...

So happy to report that Andy and I are now the proud new homeowners of the Childrens Village Joint in Morrisville, VT! We got started right away and ripped the floors up out of the bathroom. The smell is toxic and looks like we may want to get some SARS masks to avoid inhaling the fumes. Hoping to get the toilet out tomorrow and rip down the door jams and extra wall. Looks like we'll have to prime up the floors and lay some tile right! I can't wait to see this bathroom make over after it's done!
